Fort Dodge Chapter IAAP History of IAAP
The International Association of Administrative Professionals was founded in 1942. It is the world's largest professional association for office professionals, secretaries, and executive assistants. IAAP strives to support these professionals in efforts towards educational and professional achievements and career growth. There are over 700 chapters and 40,000 members and affiliates located throughout the world. Fort Dodge Chapter was chartered in September 1970 and currently has 31 members. We are in the Iowa-Nebraska Division of which there are 15 chapters and in the Northwest District encompassing the following states (divisions): Colorado-Wyoming-Montana Division, Iowa-Nebraska Division, Minnesota-North Dakota-South Dakota Division, Idaho-Oregon-Utah Division, Washington-Alaska Division. We invite various speakers on topics of interest- workplace safety, health/education, office technology skills and financial success. Our monthly meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. All Board meetings are open to members to attend. In the past we have done community service projects, provided scholarships to students attending office technology classes at Iowa Central Community College and have done different fundraisers. IAAP Mission To be the acknowledged, recognized leader of administrative professionals and to enhance their individual and collective value, image, competence, and influence. IAAP Purpose To provide information, education and training and to set standards of excellence recognized by the business community on a global perspective. IAAP Objectives To elevate the standards of all administrative professionals and to promote their working relationships with management through continuing education, authorized programs, and publications.
