Fort Dodge Chapter IAAP Welcome
President's Message Our year is off and running, and if the last couple of months are any indication of what the year will be like, it will be a busy one for all. I want to help make this a great year, and I ask that you help me in doing that. Our International President Sandra Chandler CPS asked us to work on Chandler's 5 C's for Shaping the Future. I would like our chapter to work on one C each month. I believe by the end of the year our chapter will be stronger than when we started. The 5 C's that Sandra gave us are: Commitment, Continuing Education, Communication, Creativity, Connectivity Let's start with Continuing Education. Rhonda Ostwald CPS/CAP presented information on how to obtain your CPS/CAP designation at last month's meeting, and yes this is a good form of continuing education, but is it the only way to continue your education? It does not matter how you got your job, but education played a part in it. It does not matter that you may have taken high school classes, or college courses, you had to get some education to get where you are today. But should our education stop there? You can continue your education on a daily bases. If you keep your ears tuned to the knowledge around, you will be amazed by what you can learn. Education does not just come from classrooms. I gain some of my best education from family and friends. You never know what you might learn, and how useful it may become to you. Yes, I agree that we all need to take a class or two from time to time, but don't use that as your only form of education. Think of continuing education as a day-to-day challenge. Learn something new every day, and you will be surprised what new and interesting information comes your way. So the next time you see a flyer for a class that is coming up, or if someone invites you to something you normally don't do, take a chance and see what education can do for you, and remember to keep your ears open.
