"Reaching Out To Welcome You!"
Pastor Eric
Dear Friends,

Welcome to the website of the Lanyon Evangelical Covenant Church. Much has changed in regard to the form of communication in the 124 years our church has been in existence. However, the Good News of Jesus Christ, along with the Bible's timeless truths, remain the same. As a pastor it is my desire to proclaim God's enduring truths in a way that our world may hear, understand and want to respond. At the Lanyon Covenant Church we are passionate about reaching out with the love and message of Jesus Christ. This website is one way that we are reaching out to you.

My name is Rev. Eric Marx. I have been pastoring in Lanyon a little over two years. I am married and celebrate a union of fifteen years with my wife Phoebe. We have three young boys, Alex (10), Aaron (8), and Austin (5). I affectionately refer to them as "The Marx Brothers." Phoebe and I came to Iowa, having pastored in Montana for 10 years. Missoula is my home town. We ministered in the towns of Lambert and Lewistown. Phoebe grew up in the Minneapolis, Minnesota suburbs. I received my schooling for ministry at St. Paul Bible College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

I became acquainted with the Lanyon congregation filling the pulpit when I was candidating for a pastoral position in a larger church in a much larger town. Having come to know the people of the Lanyon Church along with their gifting and passion for ministry, our family chose to pastor the Lanyon Covenant Church. Both pastor and congregation believe that God has led us together and will continue to lead us in ministry to the outlying region.

The average attendance of our fellowship is about 75-80 people. Many people drive a long ways to church claiming that "the difference is worth the distance." This difference shows itself in many ways. Among them are the caring people, and the Christ honoring music. We thank God for the work He has done and continues to do in our midst. If you do not already have a church home, we invite you to come and experience the "difference." Our front door is open wide, because we are "reaching out to welcome you!"

In His Service,
Rev. Eric Marx
