TO ALL LOOPIES:
One of our members had a fantastic column published today in the Binghamton, NY Press & Sun-Bulletin. The Sunday Viewpoint section features two extra-length points of view on current topics. Steve did a masterful job of rebutting the current idea that Pre-K should be the wave of the future, and side-by-side against the teacher who loves the idea of Pre-K, he made mincemeat of the educrat viewpoints. We think he should post the viewpoint for the loop to enjoy--and to circulate the excellent points he made. (Knowing the educrat agenda, these suggested new programs are never "new," just "new to a district.") Steve hasn't been posting things on the loop, just soaking up what has been posted by everyone else. He has, however, been not the least reticent about confronting many issues at the local level. Steve is 71524.2205@compuserve.com His column should be posted on the loop.
Also on our loop, and ALSO up until now reticent about posting much, is DonC101, who is a Town Councilman and uses his local name-recognition to bring education issues to a public that is otherwise steeped in school p.r. releases. He has sponsored open meetings to discuss education, and contributes columns to our local monthly Apalachin paper. Don's latest excellent column is on the problems with whole language. School-to-work is next in his sights. We think he should post his latest column(s) for the loop.
We're especially proud of both of these young men, because they were ones who "listened" and then got involved. May their number increase! Watch for these columns to be posted on the loop soon.
