A Place to Enjoy Nature at its Finest

Dragoon River Romp

September 22, 2007 Dragoon River Romp

Summer is here and it’s time to get on that river!  After last year’s success there was no doubt that this event should become a yearly event to make Boone County a better place.  This year the river clean-up will focus on the Des Moines River from Highway 30 south to Highway 210.  It’s a large stretch of river, but we know that with your help we can make a huge difference.  Due to the large number of volunteers last year, we will be increasing the number of participants, but there still will be limited amount of first come, first serve registrants.

We are looking for citizens, 4-H Groups, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, FFA Groups, Garden Clubs, Rotary members, Lions Clubs, and any other group wishing to be involved.  There will be a job for everyone, including those who wish not to brave the river in canoes.  The event will be followed by a family celebration at Seven Oaks Recreation that will include food, drinks, games, tie-dying, awards, and live music for the whole family.  Registration forms will be available on the Boone County website soon.  If you have any questions, contact Lois Powers at 433-0591/loisp@boonelandfill.org.  See you on the river September 22!
